The Congress is repeating the mistakes at the state level with regard to moves that have created higher insurance premiums (mandates as to what and who will be covered by an “approved” policy) and funding abortion with taxpayer money, some of which taxpayers are forced under law to pay for something they object strenuoughsly (sp?) to, on moral grounds.
Now, Congress either knows what has happened at the state level and this breach of moral decisions by others or they don’t. This has been going on for decades. The patterns are clear enough that even a mostly dead alcoholic (Ted Kennedy, before his last departure) could see them.
So either Congress has learned nothing, are without clue 1 and incompetent to vote on “healthcare reform”. Or Congress, Democrats, actually, know exactly what to expect out of their bill.
Health insurance premiums will rise, forcing people out of private insurance, onto the government dole. Abortions (now the leading cause of death among blacks) will continue with more direct funding than the $300M+ subsidy Planned Parenthood gets from taxpayers.
To say this is an economic and moral failure isn’t poltie enough. Harry Reid is so sure this is a good path for citizens that there is a clause in his bill prohibiting anyone from reversing some key step taken in the bill. Harry seems to be saying it is perfect as it is, so don’t ever mess with key provisions establishing socialist medical care.
Harry doesn’t make enough sense on a good day for me to believe this bill is Venus on the half shell, even for good marxists. He just isn’t that bright, which is why the appellation “Dingy” fits so well.
A little man from a little place, requiring those that wish exclusion from a plan not good enough for himself to kiss his ring, polish his knob, whatever, and tells those who didn’t they missed an opportunity, in disgust.
Could it be that Harry feels ignored, left out, his “power” unrecognized (as was Pelosi’s, in her wonderful book that went nowhere)? The Great Man (in somebody’s mind) didn’t get all the attention he wanted? Sigh. And we thought this was about the people who pay the bills, the taxpayers in private enterprise.
Er, Dingy…most of the country, including some people in government jobs (by definition) don’t like you or your plan. Of course you put the land mine in there to make sure no one changes it, so your handiwork would survive you demise from the Senate next year.
Too clever by half, Dingy (as if this was a new thing). Changing Senate rules, which is the goal of the little clause hidden in the Senate version of “reform”…er, you don’t have the votes. 60 wasn’t enough, big boy. My prayer is that legal reading and your egotistic omission are enough to derail at least some of this monstrosity.
Have a good retirement, Harry.

I knew a Harry Schell as a Marine. He died in a crash on Mar 3, 1981.
He was Harry Schell III, and his nickname was Lips!
Good Guy.
